A client, a manufacturer and supplier of metalworking machines, faced unfair practices of a competitor. A company supplying similar goods registered as trademarks in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan the word included in the website address (second level domain) and made the appropriate claims against the client. In Belarus and Kazakhstan we managed to prevent the registration at the stage of application expertise. In Russia, we had to act through the recognition of registration actions as an act of unfair competition before the Federal Antimonopoly Service. As a result, a competitor was denied exclusive rights in all applications. Subsequently, the client's domain name was protected as a trademark.
